Panhandling in Portland is a symptom; poverty, the problem
I don't think that pan handlers need to be illegal because it won't make the homeless people go away. It will give the homeless less of a chance to pay for food and water that they need. In order for them to get the things they need the need to have money and they can't get money from just walking they get it from standing around cars asking for money. And its not like they can go out and get a job because no one wants to hire them.

Don't lower threshold on drunken driving
I don't think that the drinking threshold should change because there will still be people who would break the law and drink higher that 0.05 and get in an accident. It could also cause people to rebel and want to drink more because this new law could make them mad.

Lies, damned lies and (school ranking) statistics
I think that the evaluation is fair because it doesn't matter if your school is smaller than other schools they should still be evaluated the same. It wouldn't be fair if you got a different grading just because your school is smaller than the bigger ones

Differences
The differences between the play Romeo and Juliet and the movie are that the end is a lot different, the instead of a bunch of people being in the place where Juliet was resting because people thought she was dead which happened in the movie there was only Romeo and Juliet in the movie. Also a lot of the weapons and stuff they used was more upgraded.

biography of character
For
my character I chose the Nurse. She is like a mom to Juliet because she
raised her and was there for her when her mom wasn’t, she was always
too busy and thats what most nurses did in this time . She helps Juliet
with Romeo, helps him get in at night, and helped them get married.
She
contributes to the story because she is one of the only people who
knows that Romeo and Juliet are together. So she has to help them be
together and try to keep it a secret. She helped to get them married so
she is going against Juliet's family.

Prediction for Romeo and Juliet
I think that Juliet is going to tell her parents soon that she is in love and married to Romeo so that they won't make her marry Paris. They aren't going to take the news well which will end up in her being mad and running away then I think she will kill herself after because she doesn't know what to do with out her parents support. Then Romeo will kill himself because he doesn't know what to do with out Juliet

Summary of Romeo and Juliet
The Capulets and Montagues have a family feud, they cant stand each other and whenever they are around each other there is most likely going to be a fight. Romeo is part of the Montagues and he is in love with Rosaline so to try and help him get over his love for Rosaline his friends bring him to a party at the Capulets house, while he is at the party he meets Juliet and forgets all about Rosaline, but there's a problem, Juliet is a Capulet and Romeo is a Montague. Montagues and Capulets are supposed to be enemies. At the party Juliets parents are trying to get her together with Paris but Juliet hates Paris and wants to be with Romeo. Nobody from either family know that Romeo and Juliet are together, except for the nurse. Romeo sneaks into Juliets room after the party and they decide that they are going to get married the next day. Romeo goes to talk to the fryer about getting married. The fryer thinks its a good idea, he thinks it might be able to end the families feud. They get married with only the nurse and fryer at the wedding. After the wedding Romeo goes to meet up with his friends then the Capulets show up, there is a fight and 2 people end up dead one being Juliets cousin, Tybalt who was killed by Romeo. Which doesn't seem to bother Juliet because she is so in love with Romeo. But what does bother her is that Romeo has been banned from the town for killing Tybalt. He sneaks into her room that night and they stay together, but in the morning he has to go and leave town.

Shakespeare Themes
Romeo is a dog, and Juliet is a cat. They are not supposed to love each other because of the feud that cats and dogs are supposed to have but they end up falling in love. They fell in love at Juliets family party that dogs weren't supposed to go to but he went in a disguise. Romeo ends up killing one of Juliets brothers in a fight after the party.

Somalia's Real Life 'Romeo and Juliet'
These two stories are similar because both of the lovers are forbidden to love each other. And in both stories the marriages are arranged by family. In the end both of the lovers died from broken hearts. They are different because in Romeo and Juliet they can't be together because of the hate between their families, and in The somalia's story they can love because of their different social classes

Shakespearean Sonnet
My hat where have you gone for days I've longed
Its almost spring I need you for the sun
Could it have been my cat who has took you
She seems to cling to all of my belongings
While sleeping in the night she drags off clothes
Including my cap where has it gone, away
When the light comes I shall look everywhere
Ive trapped the cat, while I look for the cap
She knows I'm suspecting her for the miss
She has been taking a nap in her trap
My worries are growing I'm loosing hope
I stand on the porch and stare at a shrub
Finally there it is what fun that was
Where has my belt gone let the search begin

2 characters at the town meeting
At the town meeting yesterday I meet a doctor who had 4 kids, supposed to be 5 but one died at the age of 5 from the plague. He was is wealthy and said yes for the new law, he said that he has enough money to support people that need it.
I also met the plague, it likes to make people sick and is contagious, and starts through the bite of an insect.

opinion on new law
Dear King,
They new law that gives shouldn't be passed because that would mean I need to pay more money for something that doesn't effect me. And it is not fair for me to have to pay for other people when the out come won't have anything to do with me.

Porblem of being a witch
Now that people believe I am a witch I am always threatened, people don't want to be close to me because they think I will spread disease. To avoid these I normally just stay home so that I don't need to be reminded on how nobody will talk or be close to me, and I won't be threatened as much at my home.
Daily Life of a witch
I wake up scared every day that I'm going to get caught and hung I am a widow, I live by my self with nobody to protect me. Every one in this town thinks I am a witch, they came to my house in the middle of the night one day and threatened me with torches and pitch forks. I'm just scared for what might happen next. They will want to hang me soon, they think I'm spreading diseases and creating fire and no one dares to get close to me.

Witch Biography
During
the Elizabethan Era witches were looked down on, there were witch
hunts where they would hunt witches and harass them with torches and other weapons. Women that were often blamed of being witches were old, poor, single
or a widow and they were executed by being hung. Witches were often blamed for the spread of the black death (a deadly disease which kill a lot of humans during the Elizabethan Era), other illnesses, diseases. They were also thought to have been able to create fires, and start thunderstorms. And people wanted to get rid of the witches so that the plague would end. Witches could either be men or women but only 23 men were accused and 247 women were accused.

Court order: Walk while you whistle in Portland
I think that his whistling can probably be annoying to people trying to work, a store that is playing music, or it also is getting people dogs upset, but I don't think that his whistling needs so stop, it needs to not be so loud though. But he should not be put in jail for whistling. It's good that they have told him he can't stay in place because that means he can't annoying people for that long.
So he shouldn't exactly be stopped from whistling completely but he should have to be walking and whistling.

Our View: Ban on cellphone use by drivers is common sense
Thousands of people are killed every year by texting and driving. It is worse than drunk driving because your eyes are completely off the road and when you drunk drive your eyes are still on the road. It is a very bad idea to do either drunk drive or text and drive. It is a good idea to try and get texting ban, it is already against the law in Maine to text and drive.

Movies fuel acceptance of gun violence
I think that this author is some what true, I think that movies do influence guns and make people think that it is okay to carry around guns and shoot people. But I think that they should cut back on guns in movies a little bit because think of all the people that go watch a movie and then think it is okay to carry around guns after, and shoot people. By cutting down on guns in movies it may help lower gun violence.

Letters to the editor: Wake-up call needed on teens' bedtimes
I do not fully agree with the author, I do not think that summers should be shorter, but I think that parents need to enforce a earlier bedtime in order for kids to be ready in the morning and that would help kids get up earlier. Taking away from kids summer won't help though, neither will longer school days because it will take away from the rest of kids days.

What is a protagonist?
The protagonist of my novel is Briony, because in this book it is her secret that she thinks ruined everything. The website says that the character wants to reach a goal and she feels like she needs to cry but witches can't cry.

The Road Not Taken
I think that this poem means to take journeys, it doesn't matter where you end up because in the poem the speaker doesn't care where he ends up he wants to take the path that hasn't been seen by a lot of people. He says to him self that he will take the other on another day, even though he knows he will probably not come back.

Our View: Arming teachers wrong response to gun violence
Teachers should not be armed with a gun because in this article it says that there is other ways to protect students, like have better security in the school, but teachers shouldn't be given the power of a gun, and by just taking the gun control and aim course it is not enough to prepare someone to shoot another person.

A more equal military? Bring back draft
The draft should not be brought back, because some of the people that will be drafted aren't fit to be in the military, which may cause the military to slow down if they have people who aren't fit enough to go out and fight well. We also have people that want to go into the military without being drafted.

The battle for Bald Mountain
The state of Maine should leave this land untouched and find jobs somewhere else, and they should make sure that in the future this land continues to stay untouched, because if we keep tearing apart land to make jobs for people than in a couple years the land will be gone and then there really won't be jobs for people. There could be jobs for people on this land with out tearing it apart like taking care of the nature making sure the water is clean, etc.

North Carolina governor pardons 'Wilmington 10'
The governor pardoned these people because the people weren't really guilty, the KKK got mixed up with their case and they were punished for the wrong crimes.
